1. Purpose of This Policy
This policy sets out the professional boundaries, scope of practice and limitations of responsibility for all services delivered by Lunar SEND Consultancy. It is designed to ensure clarity, transparency and protection for all parties.
2. Nature and Scope of Services
Lunar SEND Consultancy provides non-clinical consultancy, coaching, training and educational support in relation to Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), neurodiversity and sleep.
All services are delivered from an educational and advisory perspective. Lunar SEND Consultancy does not provide medical, psychological, psychiatric or therapeutic diagnosis, treatment or intervention. Advice and guidance do not replace assessment or treatment from a suitably qualified healthcare professional.
3. Sleep Support
Where sleep-related support is provided, this is offered as educational guidance and practical support informed by research and professional experience. It does not constitute medical or clinical sleep treatment or diagnosis.
Families are advised to consult a GP, paediatrician or other appropriate healthcare professional where medical, developmental or mental health concerns are present or suspected.
4. No Guarantee of Outcomes
Lunar SEND Consultancy cannot and does not guarantee specific outcomes, improvements or success as a result of its advice, training or support.
Outcomes are influenced by factors beyond the Consultant’s control, including individual needs, health, emotional wellbeing, consistency of implementation, environmental factors and systemic constraints. All recommendations are made in good faith based on the information available at the time.
5. Responsibility for Implementation
Responsibility for decisions, actions and implementation rests with the commissioning organisation, school, parent, carer or individual. Lunar SEND Consultancy cannot be held responsible for outcomes arising from interpretation, adaptation or partial implementation of advice.
6. Professional Boundaries
Services do not include personal care, physical intervention, restraint or unsupervised responsibility for children or vulnerable individuals. Work with children and young people is undertaken only with appropriate consent and within agreed professional parameters.
7. Safeguarding
Lunar SEND Consultancy is committed to safeguarding and promoting welfare. Any safeguarding concerns identified will be escalated in line with statutory guidance. The Consultancy does not undertake investigative or statutory safeguarding roles.
8. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, liability is limited to the extent of professional indemnity insurance cover in force at the time services are provided.
9. Jurisdiction
All services are governed by the laws of England and Wales and subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of its courts.
